![]() ![]() You can find a video version of this review here: Battle Brothers Complete Review The game continually handed me my own ass, even on the lowest difficulty. That’s because I simply couldn’t progress far enough to properly review it. No shame in those settings IMO, I personally think that will offer you the most fun experience, though obviously some may disagree.Battle Brothers is a brutal game, to the degree that it took me four different attempts to review it off and on for the span of an entire year. High starting funds will help ease the most difficult part of the game too, which is the start. Furthermore, you’re sure to make plenty of mistakes (everyone does, but you’ll make more as a relative beginner), and beginner economy will help you recover from those, so your less likely to completely wipe your company financially with a mistake. The only thing I would avoid is begginer combat, because from my understanding that actually does skew RNG slightly in your favor and will mess with enemy scaling, which may promote bad gameplay habits.Īs a new player, you probably don’t have a good grasp at how to both earn the most and get the most bang for your buck with your money. Battle brothers is just a really hard game, and even low settings can still be hard. Personally, I’d say Veteran combat, beginner economic, high starting funds. Therefore my advice is, start with veteran and get your nose bloodied, it will pay off ) Novice difficulty will leave you with wrong lessons, as everything is less dangerous. You won't know how much orc berserker is dangerous until you run in to one. You need to know which fights are not worth the reward and you need to know how to evaluate enemies. Game will not carry you by hand and at any point you can get yourself in to a fight that you can't win. Problem is in my opinion in that one of the most important aspects of the game to learn is proper danger/risk assessment. With veteran learning curve will be steeper, but you won't be learning bad habits. Problem with beginner is that it tend to teach new players bad habits, and lot of them complain that they hit brick wall once they switch to veteran. ![]() There is beginner difficulty but I would discourage new players from using it. That's a default difficulty and that's also what I would recommend starting with. I hear some people saying if you don’t choose expert your not getting the full experience. And yeah beast battles are rough early game, I always avoid them haha. The game can be stupidly hard on all difficulties, or sometimes easy on any of them, depending on what fights you decide to take. Also it only affects contract payouts so if you end up doing very few contracts and instead sell lots of loot that difficulty setting won’t affect as much. I personally play starts where I end up with extra money anyway though, so the economic difficulty doesn’t do a ton. If you like being poor for longer and having to worry about money more, you might prefer expert economic difficulty though. I always play expert combat ever since I’d had a few solid campaigns on beginner or veteran.Įconomic difficulty is different, while I assume they did make the game with the goal of playing with everything Expert and on Ironman, I personally play with either veteran or beginner economic difficulty usually, because it’s just more fun to me. In a way expert combat makes the game easier because stronger loot is available earlier and more readily. Main Wiki Link Starter Guide Key shortcuts Game mechanics Seed BankĮxpert combat difficulty affects which enemies you’ll find and not how often they hit or anything like that, so I think that’s what they intended once you are more experienced.
